Excellent food, service and ambiance. The staff are courteous, well-informed and very friendly. I had the Tilapia Piccata; it was served at the perfect temperature and the flavors were wonderful. The lemon sauce added a special "zing" to the dish, and the capers also added a special, unexpected burst of flavor to finish. This Italian restaurant is better than most of the ones I have dined in back in San Diego, CA. Well done, Vesuvio Bistro! Ciao and until next time!

Had a great business dinner here. The food was great and the wait staff was very friendly. One of the better places I've eaten. the calamari was excellent for an appetizer. I had a Greek salad and the seafood pasta special. It was a little spicy which was awesome. I would recommend it.

Vesuvio is a favorite for every occasion. The spaghetti finished table side is a must have. I have visited this restaurant multiple times and I have never been disappointed. I am so glad to be here tonight. Yay!

Good Italian food in west little rock. The wait staff is great and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is more of chain feel but is still intimate. The owner is nice but if you're done eating or drinking they want you to pay and leave. Sometimes I enjoy sitting around and talking to my wife after spending $$$.

After my previous review the owner called and was wonderful explaining the vending I was there they had few reservations and their chef had taken the evening off which was rare and then they had a big party of 20 walk in. He was not making excuses but simply trying to explain my last very bad experience. I was very impressed with this gentleman and his care for his customers. I returned to the restaurant to a superb dinner. The table side pasta made in the big wheel of parmigiana is a must have. The polenta appetizer is delicious.

Went for the first time last night. We got there right on time for our reservation, but there was a group of 4 who had a reservation ahead of us. We were seated first, because they put us in the bar by the kitchen, they then seated the group of 4 after us in the regular dining area... no big deal, I guess... our waiter indicated they were "regulars". Now to the dinner... we waited almost 30 minutes for our SALADS! Then after we received our salads, not 2 minutes later our entrees were brought to the table. Ridiculous for a restaurant like this. The waiter was unapologetic and blamed the kitchen. The food tasted okay, but nothing special. I had scallops that were under cooked, too salty, and looked like they'd been sitting out quite a while under the warmer. The gloppy saffron risotto didn't help much. Save your money and go elsewhere.

After a long day on the road, we stayed the night in Little Rock and decided to have Italian food for dinner. Having traveled a great deal in Southern Italy, the Vesuvius Italian restaurant caught my eye. We called to make a reservation and headed to the restaurant. When we arrived, there was a pianist playing beautiful songs on a baby grand piano. Immediately we relaxed and after being seated, the waiter brought some bruschetta to our table. In Italy, this would be a gift saying "thank you for coming to our restaurant." I took it to be the same here. The waiter was very accommodating, the wine was delicious and the meal was outstanding. We had the spinach salad with feta cheese and pine nuts. For our entree we had shrimp, asparagus, shiitake mushrooms on top of penne pasta in a light cream sauce which was just delicious!!! All the while, the excellent pianist was playing beautiful music. I understand they have a pianist Thurs-Sat nights . I highly recommend the Vesuvius restaurant. I wish I could find a restaurant like this where we live!!!

Even though OpenTable stated an hour wait, we called and got our table immediately. The service was great, live piano music was a bit overwhelming at first, but it became less annoying after a while (or was that the bottle of Model Riesling that did the trick). Service was great, and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and Italian cuisine in general. He clearly cared about what he was serving his guests. The proprietor was nearby, making rounds and made sure to shake our hands on the way out and talk to us a bit. That was a nice touch. All in all, great service, great food, great location (former El Chico). There was some wait on the food, but fresh bread with tapenade made that much more bearable.

Went here with friends when it was at the old location, and it was delicious. I can't afford to go here regularly because every time I do, the bill gets pretty spendy for even just the two of us, but it's worth it. I proposed to my now-wife after dinner here, so it's got a special association for both of us.

Let me start by saying it was our first time here and it won't be our last. Jacob was our waiter and he was excellent and so well informed about the menu. My daughter who is 10 could not decide what she wanted and he got down to her level and explained the pasta and red sauce or sauce with meat and she was so happy he talked to her and was interested in what she had to say. She decided on rigatoni with red sauce and she loved it. My husband and I both got the pasta with mushrooms that they put in a big cheese wheel and it was delicious. I would recommend highly to eat here. We did have a reservation and when we were leaving lots of people were coming in so I would make one.

Wonderful meal and wonderful service. The goat cheese salad (a special) was incredible, and I loved the sea bass (another special). Knowledgeable staff. Wonderful piano player in the background. A Little Rock gem.

Vesuvio has become our "go-to" restaurant. I love the room: soft lighting, pretty bar with a piano player, tablecloths and linen napkins, and candles on every table. The tables are spaced so you have privacy. The servers are all excellent although Nick and Robby are our favorites. It's nice to walk in and be greeted by name with a smile and gracious old-school manners. The food is all good but I prefer the pasta dishes. There are no surprises, the food is consistently good and priced right. The bar drinks are very generous- one drink is enough for the evening (for me). It's a good place to go for a special occasion or for a week night dinner out. It doesn't hurt that the owner speaks with a sexy Italian accent, but that's just a nice extra. The place has substance and warmth.

Enjoyed another fine meal at Vesuvio last night. We chose Sunday night to celebrate Valentine's to avoid the crowds on the actual night. Showed up without a reservation, but got seated immediately. We got to choose between the regular menu and their special Valentine's menu. As we have come to expect, the service and food were both top-notch. The only thing missing was the piano music. Already looking forward to the next visit. Will have to save up some money first.

Vesuvio totally earns 5 stars! I literally don't have a single complaint. The food was delicious, our waitress was delightful and the ambiance was upscale, yet relaxing; with a live pianist playing in the bar area. The menu was prix fixe, as it was Valentines Day, and my boyfriend and I both ordered the Osso Buco as an entree. Absolutely LOVED everything and can't wait to go back when the full menu is offered!!

Great food. Excellent service. Got the pork tenderloin special with a great appetizer. Was cooked very well. Paired with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. The sauce on the pork tenderloin was great. Also indulged in a triple berry cheesecake, which was fantastic. Coupled with a glass of frisking made for a wonderful dining experience. Kudos to the waiter for a great knowledge of the menu and wonderful table side manners. From out of town, but if I were a local, this would definitely be a constant stop.

Having spent as much time as my colleagues and I have in Little Rock, I'm disappointed it took us this long to find Vesuvio. This is a really good restaurant and definitely needs to be rater higher than what it currently is. We made reservations for our party of 8 and were seated as soon as we got there. The appetizers were delicious as was the salad special that a few of my colleagues ordered. For my entree, I ordered the pasta with basil pesto - the portion was just right and the dish was delicious. All my colleagues enjoyed their respective dishes and the sentiment that this is a really good restaurant was shared by all. We indulged in desserts - we had the tiramisu, based on our waiter's recommendation. It was good - but nothing to write home about. Everyone enjoyed their desserts and we all had a generally good time. We are sure to return for more!

I had the pork tenderloin special. It was served with real mashed potatoes and green beans. Our waiter was wonderful. For dessert had the berry cheesecake which was homemade. Wonderful experience.

Love this place. Great Italian! Love, love, love the spinach pear salad! Stuffed manicotti was wonderful. Best Tiramisu ever!!! Might have to drop in for dessert more often! Pianist was very good - played a lot of 70's tunes & quite a bit of Disney. I wanted to sing with them all. Have to admit I got a chuckle out of Disney tunes in an adult venue but it was fine with me! Great date night spot to celebrate our anniversary!

Very good Italian. Loved the bread bites, salad, and main dish. The ambiance was good, price was a little higher, but the food was excellent. A nice find in Little Rock.

We are picky about our Italian cuisine. First timer, and it was an excellent dining experience. Upscale, but not stuffy. Everything we ate was excellent and the service was, also. Will definitely return to Vesuvio's.

Went to Vesuvio Bistro for our anniversary and absolutely loved it. The wait staff was excellent from the moment we walked through the door until it was time to choose dessert. The grilled swordfish was very tasty and paired well with the wine that our waiter recommended. Will be back without a doubt.

I would rate this restaurant 4.5 stars if I could. I've been to the old location and the new one, and I enjoyed my experiences at both locations. Here's the skinny: you won't leave skinny ;) Seriously, the food is all great and portions are big. They serve you two types of bread as appetizers (free!) First a plate of bruschetta. Then Italian bread with olive tapenade, which is quite good. My husband and I both ordered salads--and they were both excellent. Then we ordered two of the daily specials because they sounded amazing--and they were! We split Gnocchi swimming in a delicious cream sauce and Halibut with asparagus and potatoes. We devoured every last bite. Then we had the cheesecake for dessert--made with ricotta, it was very unique and tasted great. Portions were large enough that we easily left feeling very full even though we split entrees. I've never had a bad experience here and I think it's a great Italian option for this area. And its not a chain. The new location is bigger and accommodates large parties nicely with much better parking than the old location. Service has always been great for us.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
